Well, Hello.

Welcome to the portfolio of interactive designer Carl Prescott.
Please feel free to drop me a line and have a look around.
There's no hurry...

About Me. The CliffsNotes Version.

(In progress...)

Web Design & Motion Graphics

I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients on interactive projects ranging from auto insurance websites to games involving runaway gingerbread men. (Not to mention enough banner ads to fill a large dump truck). Below are a few examples of my design and/or flash work running amok along The Information Superhighway.

Art & Illustration

Although much of what I do nowadays is primarily 'digital', my roots are in traditional media. I still find that these skills come in handy, though not necessarily through the use of tubes of acrylic. (I still get the occasional editorial assignment, though). Most recently, however, the task was to create a series of animated shorts for the award-winning documentary An Ecology of Mind. For these animations, I used Flash, along with a Wacom tablet to replicate a pen and ink feel, and exported them as high-res movie files.

Chewing Gum For The Ears.

I've loved to play music in one form or another since I was a wee tot. These days, I terrorize my dogs and neighbors with my trumpet (among other brass and stringed noisemakers) and play around town in Smokestaxx, a funky San Diego-based jazz and motown group. More recently, the three person Montalban Quintet - which began as straight-ahead jazz but has morphed into something completely different - has been picking up some momentum. I also enjoy writing and recording music for an on-going solo instrumental project of mine, A.K.A. Bionic Manchild. Folks who listen tell me it reminds them of Saturday morning cartoons - experienced under the influence of eight bowls of Lucky Charms.

What's On Your Mind?

*This is one of those folding, portable Corona typewriters — today's laptop equivalent — that belonged to my great grandparents. But, unlike my Mac a hundred years from now, it still works just fine. Anyway, it's here for you to see, and in the spirit of the good ol' days, make this site chug a little.

Thanks!
